Expectations for KAP KAP FAQ's

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an emerging therapy that addresses your mental health & well-being in a new way, using an evidence-based and research-backed approach. Each client’s treatment is unique and customised to them.

KAP involves the addition of small-doses of Ketamine, a common anaesthetic used in hospitals around the world, to allow for an individual to dissociate from their issues and approach resolving them in a new way aided by their therapist. This approach has been shown to be effective when dealing with chronic anxiety, post-traumatic-stress-disorder, certain substance use disorders, clinical depression, and other distressing experiences or challenges.

Why Use Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

If you feel like you have tried everything to find relief from your symptoms but have yet to find that relief, you are not the only one. Even after changes in lifestyle, medications, and various therapies, many people still find it difficult to establish lasting improvements in their health, their relationships, or in breaking their unhealthy habits. KAP serves as a therapeutic tool that will help you:

  1. Access and process your emotions

  2. Develop and shift into new ways of thinking & behaving

  3. Gain insights into your own life, or help you to embody the life you want to be living

There is growing evidence that KAP helps with navigating experiences of past traumas, leads to a reduction in anxiety, and improves overall mood while leading to internal motivation to make lasting changes.

Current research is showing clients are likely to experience greater benefits when completing three consecutive KAP sessions. We ask that you commit to  booking three KAP dates when you submit your application.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy has been shown to benefit people struggling with:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Certain Substance Use Disorders

  • Suicidal Ideation

  • Processing Near-Death Experiences

  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)

Exclusions to Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

There are certain conditions that may exclude you from undergoing KAP. These include a history of heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, symptoms of psychosis, or kidney disease. It is possible that Ketamine may increase your heart rate or blood pressure during your session, so it is essential that these conditions are controlled before proceeding with your session.

Currently Accepting Clients

We are currently accepting new clients for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. If you are interested in pursuing KAP, we encourage you to discuss it with your primary physician as well.

Traditional Uses of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Psychedelic Assisted Therapies are quickly being adopted by western culture and being embraced as powerful healing medicines, while Indigenous populations have long used psychoactive substances in traditional and spiritual or sacred ceremonies for thousands of years.

We would like to respectfully acknowledge the origin of these substances being used in a therapeutic setting, and pay homage to the roots of the practice.

We would also like to acknowledge and honour the four nations on whose traditional land we live: the Sinixt, the Ktunaxa, the Secwepmec, and the Syilx.
